Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Mold Filling in Rotational Molding

This work focuses on the development of a numerical mold filling simulation for rotational molding process. In process, dry fiber preform is placed in and impregnated with thermoset matrix under rotation. Additionally, metallic load introduction elements can be inserted into joined co-curing or form-fit, resulting hybrid drive shafts tie rods. The model used to simulate impregnation preform. Based resin transfer an OpenFOAM solver extended Permeability, kinetic curing models are selected adapted materials used. A wireless measurement solution capacitive sensor developed validate model. Comparisons between measurements numerically calculated times reach show good quality average deviation result measured mean values experiment 43.8% maximum 65.8% . therefore predict progress state.
